The Republic of Djibouti has entered the wind power age, with a first Siemens Gamesa turbine installed at the 59MW Goubet wind project.
The OEM last year had sealed a contract to build the small African country its first-ever wind farm to help it meet a rapidly rising energy demand, and provide power to 110,000 households there still without access to electricity.
The onshore project is in the Arta region that counts on consistent winds throughout the year, and can easily be accessed by road from Djibouti City.
