While plans for California offshore wind are moving quickly at both the state and federal levels, it will need to overcome significant hurdles to reach any near-term capacity, including ocean depths beyond the scope of current floating wind technology, according to Aegir Insights.
The Danish specialist industry research firm said technical hurdles resulting from extreme depths along the state’s coastline could delay California’s floating wind goals.
