Belgium’s Deme Offshore has landed the €200m job of installing the turbines and foundations at Orsted’s giant 1.4GW Hornsea 2 wind farm off the UK.
The contractor will sail out its new Orion installation jack-up, slated to join the Deme Offshore fleet by the end of this year, as well as its Sea Challenger and Sea Installer vessels for the assignment, which will involve piling in 165 monopiles and transition pieces, before topping them out with Siemens Gamesa 8.4MW SG 8.4-167s.

Installation work at Hornsea 2, located some 90km off the north-east coast of Britain, should be completed in early 2022.
Deme Offshore also carried out installation of foundations, turbines and export cables at Orsted’s neighbouring 1.2GW Hornsea 1 project, which reached first power earlier this year.
