“We’re putting our Massachusetts project into high gear, and opening our office in New Bedford is an important next step,” said Deepwater Wind chief executive Jeff Grybowski.
The office is one mile from the state-owned Marine Commerce Terminal, which Deepwater and rivals Dong Energy and OffshoreMW agreed earlier this month to lease for $5.7m annually over an initial two years.
Like Deepwater, Dong and OffshoreMW, which are also expected to participate in the tender, hold rights to 1GW-plus zones in federal waters south of Massachusetts.
