In making the announcement today, energy minister Lars Lilleholt suggests that a fourth phase of the wind farm off the western coast could be built by 2025.

In response, the Danish Wind Industry Association (DWIA) says: “This would be a success story if it weren’t for the fact it is subject to shelving the 350MW coastal plans.”

The news comes as the industry reels from government proposals outlining a series of “cost-saving initiatives” geared towards lowering expenditure on renewables support, including delaying or scrapping the 350MW tender, due for completion by 2020.
