The UK Crown Estate has cleared eight offshore wind projects to advance to the next stage of extension applications with the potential to add up to 3.4GW to the country's fleet.

The Crown Estate’s initial assessment allows the projects to pursue plans to add capacity that would as much as double their existing installed base.

The body said it cleared the following projects to move forward with their applications: Sheringham Shoal (up to 317MW), Dudgeon (402MW), Race Bank (573MW), Greater Gabbard (504MW), Galloper (353MW), Rampion (400MW) and Gwynt y Mor (576MW).
