Dutch chemical giant LyondellBasell has signed its first two US commercial-scale solar and wind deals totalling 216MW that support its climate goal to procure a minimum 50% of electricity from renewable sources by 2030.

The deals, linked to two Texas renewables projects, involve a 12-year virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) with Engie North America for 100MW of capacity sourced from its Limestone wind farm and a 10-year VPPA with Buckeye Partners is for 116MW sourced from its Files PV array.
