French construction giant Bouygues Travaux Publics (BTP) has acquired an innovative concrete floating wind platform concept developed by Norwegian offshore engineering outfit Olav Olsen with a view to accelerating the design into mass production for the emerging market.

The deal for the OO-Star – a semisubmersible design owned by Olav Olsen spin-out Floating Wind Solutions that is being employed for the EU-backed Flagship pilot project being headed up by Iberdrola – would “combine engineering and construction expertise to optimise the technology” for commercialisation, the pair said.
