RWE and Northland Power have teamed up to develop a 1.6GW offshore wind cluster in the German North Sea.

The German and Canadian utilities already had won part of the acreage in the cluster in last year’s German offshore wind tender, and have entry rights for the remainder, which is scheduled for auction next year.

The companies plan to start commercial operation in the new North Sea Cluster north of the island of Juist between 2026 and 2028.
