Nordex will deploy self-developed concrete hybrid turbine tower technology for the first time after winning an order to equip a 148MW wind farm in Finland.

The German manufacturer will deliver 25 N163/5.X machines to the Karahka project in the region of North Ostrobothnia, under development by Finnish energy utility Helen and Ålandsbanken Wind Power Fund.

The turbines – at a hub height of 168 metres – will for the first time use the hybrid towers, with a concrete element developed in-house by Nordex and manufactured locally in Finland.
