GE Renewable Energy hopes to start producing giant wind turbine components on-site at projects within five years thanks to work underway at a US R&D centre using what’s billed as the world’s largest 3D concrete printer.
The wind power OEM on Thursday cut the ribbon at the facility in Bergen, New York, that will be the focus of research into 3D printing of concrete bases for turbine towers.
