Norway is starting consultation with the wind industry and other maritime users over its first offshore wind tenders for two gigascale floating and bottom-fixed areas that are scheduled to open by the end of the first quarter of 2023 and see first awards by the autumn.

“We will allocate areas corresponding to 30GW by 2040, and now we present the framework for allocation at Utsira Nord and the first areas at Southern North Sea 2,” Norwegian energy minister Terje Aasland said, speaking at a press conference in Oslo today (Tuesday).
