Clipper will break ground at the factory almost immediately, and says it will wrap up construction by the third quarter of 2010. The plant will make 75m-long blades for Clipper’s still-under-development 10-megawatt Britannia offshore turbines, employing as many as 500 people by 2020.

Though Clipper’s announcement is a welcome gust at the UK wind industry’s back, it comes as little surprise given the welcome the California-based firm has been given by its hosts across the Atlantic.
