Formed in 2008, the nonprofit organization says it has accomplished its mission of promoting the region to state, national and foreign wind developers and investors.
Its name reflects the wind power class used by the US National Renewable Energy Laboratory that is prevalent there, although it has plenty of Class 5 wind as well. The highest wind resource is Class 8+, which is not found in the continental US.
