The City Council on Wednesday voted unanimously to approve the Renewable City Strategy, also seeks to increase the supply of renewables within Vancouver’s 115sq km area. The city also aims to reduce total energy use by one-third over 2014 levels.
Vancouver has obtained 31% of its energy from renewable sources thus far this year. The city’s strategy also establishes a 2050 goal to emit 80% fewer greenhouse gases than in 2007.
