Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) has acquired the two-phase, up-to-800MW Woodward project under development in Illinois, US, from Dallas-based Tri Global Energy, as the Danish fund manager continues investing heavily in the US wind sector.

Terms of the transaction for the Woodward Wind Energy project were not made public. Construction of the initial phase is targeted to begin in January 2021 with commercial operation by the end of the year, enabling it to qualify for the federal production tax credit at 80% value.
