Danish wind power association WindDenmark has voiced fears over possible ‘industrial espionage’ linked to a Chinese recruitment programme at universities called ‘1,000 Talents’, following claims in the Copenhagen-based Politiken newspaper.

At least eight academics affiliated with Danish universities, as well as industry OEMs Vestas and Siemens Gamesa, have been recruited by a state-run programme that is suspected of stealing research from western countries, Politiken said on 2 May, adding that the issue is also subject of an extensive FBI investigation in the US.
