Chinese government sets minimum RE purchase levels to reduce wind, PV curtailment

The new requirements are focused on parts of the country where curtailment is most serious.

The rules will apply to wind farms in nine parts of the country, including the heavily curtailed Xinjiang region and Gansu province, both in northwestern China.

The purchase requirements have been designed to ensure that the utilisation of wind farms reaches an annual average of at least 1,800 hours, the NDRC said.
