Three key floating wind pilots are advancing toward installation in the waters off China, with expectations that a lead-off project at the Shapa site being developed by China Three Gorges (CTG) off Guangdong province will be deployed as early as 2021.

Zou Libing, vice engineering chief of the MYSE Research Institute told Recharge on the sidelines of the recent China Offshore Wind Summit that the so-called Yangjiang project, being touted as “the first national demonstration of floating wind”, would “soon” begin development in the waters off Yangjiang city and be online “in three years”.
