With historic low prices for solar power Chile has just concluded yet another tender in which renewables took the bulk of new contracts and wind surpassed PV, which had dominated recent tenders.

As the country presses ahead to meet its 20% renewable supply target by 2025, another 3.8 terawatt hours annually will be tendered next year which, according to Andrés Romero, executive secretary of the country’s power regulator (CNE), will help the target to be reached in 2020 or 2021.
