Belgian marine contractor DEME Offshore has agreed to form a joint venture with Japanese peer Penta-Ocean Construction with a focus on the construction of offshore wind farms in Japan.

Penta Ocean will own 51% of the shares in the JV, with DEME holding 49%.

The Eastern Asian country with a 10GW offshore wind power target, aims to build 30-45GW by 2040, and has very favourable wind conditions.
