The consortium developing the pioneering up-to-150MW Redwood Coast Offshore Wind Project (RCOWP) off California has handed in a lease application to the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management to advance what could be the first floating wind farm off the US.

Local government joint powers agency the Redwood Coast Energy Authority (RCEA), Principle Power, EDPR and Aker Solutions are aiming to build the landmark development in 600-900 metres of water off the coast of Eureka, in Humboldt Country, in the north of the state, by 2024/25.
