California floating wind targets are likely ‘unrealistic’ due to lengthy permitting timelines and the technical hurdles of rolling out a new technology, according to latest Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF) forecasts, with the nascent sector expected to play no role in total US wind installations to the end of the decade.
But the analyst group, in its first half 2022 market report, nonetheless sees momentum building with the US trailing only the UK in floating wind installations by 2035.
