After they come online through 2016, BHE Renewables through its wholly-owned BHE Wind will then fully own six projects with more than 1.3GW of nameplate capacity. That will vault it into the top 15 wind capacity owners nationwide – not bad for a company formed in 2011 that completed its first wind farm in late 2012.
BHE Renewables, part of billionaire Warren Buffett’s business empire, has driven wind growth partly through acquisitions starting with the 81MW Bishop Hill project in Illinois in 2012.
