Independent tower manufacturer Broadwind announced a $175m “transformational” order from a leading global turbine OEM, an indication the US onshore wind sector may be starting to recover from a two-year slump.

The order is the largest ever received from the unnamed manufacturer, according to Broadwind. GE Renewable Energy and Vestas dominate the US wind turbine market with the remaining 20% or so held by Nordex and Siemens Gamesa.
