The R$3.2m ($915m) system is expected to boost operating turbines' performance by 5-10% by detecting failures and constant analysis, which could cut maintenance costs, says Eólica Tecnologia chief executive CEO Everaldo Feitosa.
The service aims to monitor 200MW operated by Feitosa's company and in two years will be available nationwide, with capacity to monitor 1GW.
The project is a partnership between the Federal University of Pernambuco; Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan; and the Technology Association of Pernambuco.
