It was only a matter of time before BP joined fellow oil supermajors Shell and Total in the offshore wind sector – but it made its debut in style.
A $1.1bn deal with fellow oil and gas player Equinor gives it a half share of two of the most high-profile projects in the world, Empire Wind and Beacon Wind, which will power more than two million American homes from sites off New York and Massachusetts.
