Global offshore wind player BlueFloat Energy and its local partner boosted their Australian pipeline past the 5GW mark after unveiling another giga-scale plan Down Under.

BlueFloat and Energy Estate said the 1.2GW Southern Winds project aims to deploy bottom-fixed turbines up to 30km off the states of South Australia and Victoria.

The project would fall in the Portland West Offshore Wind Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) set by the government of Victoria, which this year set a milestone first Australian target for the sector.
