Floating wind pioneer BlueFloat Energy is moving forward with projects potentially totalling some 5.2GW off Colombia in the Caribbean Sea, following the roll-out this week of the South American country’s offshore wind roadmap.

The developer, together with in-country partner Enerxia Renovables, aims to progress the giga-scale Vientos Alisios project along with six other arrays in a stretch of deepwater off country’s Atlantic and Bolívar departments.

“BlueFloat Energy invests in Colombia because it believes in the potential of the country. Colombia has a privileged location for the development of offshore wind projects and has an outstanding wind resource,” said Armando Politi, BlueFloat Energy´s Colombia country manager.
