Operation of five of GE's latest onshore wind turbines has been halted at a Swedish project after the manufacturer confirmed to Recharge that a blade failure hit one of its 5.3MW-158 Cypress machines.

No one was hurt in the latest incident at the ill-fated 175MW Bjorkvattnet project some 500km north of Stockholm, which has already suffered three crane accidents during its construction and is due to supply most of its electricity to internet titan Google under a power purchase agreement (PPA).
