A German plan for a so-called gas and power ‘price brake’ for consumers that includes a skimming of energy generation revenue threatens to damage the investment climate for renewables and jeopardises climate targets, the green power sector warned.
The government had sent a draft of the measures to energy federations at very short notice to limit proceeds from generation retroactively from September 2022 until at least June next year, with the option to extend the ordinance until the end of 2024.
