Orsted has completed its largest-ever onshore wind project in a sign how the Danish utility is increasingly diversifying from wind at sea.

The company finished the 130-turbine Western Trail Wind Farm in Wilbarger and Baylor counties in Texas that has a capacity of 367MW.

That brought Orsted’s overall onshore capacity (wind, solar and battery storage) to more than 2.8GW.

“Western Trail Wind is a well-sited greenfield development project that will provide low-cost, reliable power to the Texas grid,” said Philip Moore, senior vice president of Orsted Onshore.
