“That’s the first project on the table at this point. We’re starting there and we’ve identified several other sites that we’re permitting for right now in Atlantic Canada tying into various grid systems for the future,” chief executive Kirby Mercer tells Recharge.
He did not specify the additional site locations except to say that one is off Newfoundland.
In Canada, the federal government primarily regulates offshore energy development in navigable waters, as well as interprovincial and international power transmission.
