Last year wind-related gearboxes accounted for 84% of Hansen’s €532m turnover, while industrial gearboxes accounted for the remaining 16% of its revenue.

The deal, which is expected to close by April 2011, will allow Hansen to slim its operational focus, having “recognized for some time the different market dynamics” between the two divisions.

Hansen, one of the world’s leading suppliers of gearboxes for wind turbines, will discontinue all wind-related production at its factory in Edegem, Belgium.
