The loss comes after recording a pre-tax profit of €31.7m in the same six-month period in 2008.
Hansen blames its disappointing results on “lower-than-expected” sales volumes, despite having recently built a new manufacturing facility in Coimbatore, India, and an assembly plant in Tianjin, China. Its primary manufacturing base is in Lommel, Belgium.
Hansen’s first-half revenues slipped to €295m, down 3.1% compared to last year.
