Few details were given beyond the two companies’ intention to “work together to develop offshore wind and associated transmission projects” in Europe, with a special focus on the UK and Germany.
The companies emphasised the non-exclusive nature of their arrangment, saying they will “continue to pursue opportunities separately ... where the scope of the work is segmented in multi-contracting arrangements”.
Nevertheless, the alliance will present developers and utilities progressing offshore wind projects with a welcome new option for engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services – and one backed by two deep-pocketed, well-respected players in the offshore energy space.
