Timken says the contract covers more than 1.5GW of new wind capacity and includes engineering support, bearings, condition-monitoring systems and services.

The deal involves both Goldwind’s 1.5MW and 2.5MW machines and calls for collaboration on future turbine development, focusing on faster cycle times for new platforms and improving uptime of Goldwind projects.

“Combining Timken’s century of experience with Goldwind’s leading innovation in large-scale wind turbines, we are prepared to serve China’s needs for renewable energy, and to promote global development as well,” says Timken China president Leong Fang in a statement.
