Europe's wind industry on Wednesday called for a continent-wide ban on sending old turbine blades to landfill by the end of 2025 and government incentives to reuse materials, in a bid to accelerate development of recycling technologies that can head-off the need to dump some 50,000 tonnes of waste material by the end of the decade.

Industry group WindEurope wants the EU and other key markets such as the UK to back the outlawing of dumping amid a looming ramp-up in the decommissioning of early wind farms across the continent.
