Two large offshore wind projects in Finland and Estonia have advanced which could add close to 2GW in capacity in the northern and eastern parts of the Baltic Sea later this decade.

Suomen Hyötytuuli said an extension of 600MW or more to its 42MW Tahkoluoto wind farm off Pori in the Gulf of Bothnia now proceeds to the permitting phase after the Finnish developer had carried out an environmental impact assessment in 2021 and 2022, followed by the approval of its land use plan.
