EnBW had commissioned the construction of the 40-metre-wide and 15-metre high transformer rig to Alstom Grid and WeserWind.

The installation of the transformer platform showed that even in the relatively calm waters of the Baltic Sea, weather conditions can pose a serious challenge to the construction of offshore wind projects.

EnBW says that installation works for the transformer rig had to be aborted a week earlier due to an abrupt change in the weather, and the rig had to be pulled to the secure port of Sassnitz for safety reasons.
