Italy was singled out as Europe’s worst culprit for wind farm permitting delays after another renewable energy auction awarded less than a third of the capacity on offer.
The nation awarded 975MW out of a potential 3.3GW, including 392MW of onshore wind, in its latest tender, said industry body WindEurope as it put the shortfall down to chronic problems with the Italian system for consenting projects.
