DP Energy became the latest global developer to stake a claim in Australia’s fast-emerging offshore wind market.

Ireland-based DP Energy has identified five potential sites for giga-scale development, two off New South Wales and three off Victoria, which will now be subject to feasibility studies.

The Australian government recently announced plans to declare the Bass Strait off Gippsland, Victoria, as the nation’s first designated development zone, with five more to follow in areas that will span both fixed-bottom and floating seabed.
