The Australian Energy Regulator (AER) has started legal action over alleged supply failures by a Tesla-supplied battery system linked to wind power that it claimed had over several months “created a risk to power system security and stability”.

The AER is claiming breaches of electricity market rules in 2019 in action launched against Neoen, the renewables group that has operated the Hornsdale Power Reserve (HPR), also known as 'South Australia's Big Battery', since it began operation in 2017 following a famous public claim by Tesla founder Elon Musk that the company’s storage technology could help prevent blackouts in the state.
