AGL expects to start work on the Silverton Wind Farm in far western New South Wales – which it is buying for an undisclosed sum from Germany’s Epuron and Australia’s Macquarie Capital – next year.
The project has development approval for an initial 282 wind turbines with a maximum capacity of 300MW, subject to market conditions and electricity network capacity.
For the second stage, Silverton has concept approval for a further 316 wind turbines in subsequent stages, which would bring its capacity up to a maximum of 1GW.
