Transitioning offshore oil & gas contractor Aker Solutions has partnered with Siemens Energy to win the up-to-NKr3bn ($360,000) contract from Iberdrola-owned ScottishPower Renewables to build the high-voltage, direct current (HVDC) converter stations for the developer’s giant East Anglia 3 (EA3) wind project in the UK North Sea.

The turnkey deal for the 1.4GW megaproject, the second being built by the developer as part of its larger East Anglia Hub complex, is conditional on the development reaching financial close next year, when Aker expects to start “detailed design engineering”.
