Floating wind power needs “urgent action” by European nations to underpin the continent’s first-mover advantage in the sector, said WindEurope.

European companies have pioneered the floating wind sector’s progress to date, but now need a dedicated policy agenda to turn it into a global success story, the industry body says in a briefing paper.

Key measures WindEurope wants to see include EU member states writing their floating wind targets and strategies into their National Energy and Climate Plans (NECPs), which will set the agenda for the bloc’s members out to 2030.
