Acciona said meeting the requirements allows projects using its turbines to apply for the most favourable finance terms from Brazilian development bank BNDES, which administers the country’s local-content scheme.
The Spanish manufacturer in May opened its new nacelle assembly plant in Bahia state, where it will produce its 3MW AW 116/3000 and AW 125/3000 models.
It said the plant is currently geared up to produce 100 turbines a year, but that could quickly be doubled.
