Mexico’s energy ministry yesterday announced the results of its hotly anticipated tender, saying it will sign contracts with developers for 2.8GW of new wind and solar capacity, as well as for a substantial amount of gas-fired capacity.

The second tender was “particularly hard-fought”, says Miguel Ángel Alonso, Acciona Energía’s Mexico director, with average prices coming in 30% lower than in the first tender held this spring.
