ABB links with Aibel for offshore wind platforms

Swiss-based ABB said under the terms of the partnership it will focus on delivering its high-voltage direct current (HVDC) technology, while Aibel will provide turnkey delivery of offshore transmission platforms.

“Together, we intend to grow our businesses by complementing each other’s strengths in unique customer services for offshore wind projects,” said ABB CEO Ulrich Spiesshofer.

The two companies have already worked together in the offshore wind sector – for example on the 916MW DolWin Beta project in the German North Sea.
