The UK needs a new ‘sector deal’ and a “floating wind tsar” to meet the challenges of ramping up the fast-growing renewables source, according to two of the highest-profile executives in the offshore wind industry.

The calls by Benj Sykes, UK offshore chief of Orsted, and Stephen Bull, executive vice president for renewables at Aker Solutions, came as key players in the fast-growing floating wind sector called on the British government to set ambitious, long-term targets to underpin the huge investments needed to launch gigawatt-scale deployments.
